Not sure how they are haven't use them yet but they say

1st Toyota Parts is a Toyota dealer located in Oregon (I think) and provides OEM parts at a 20%-25% discount. They are legitimate. I've used them and their service is excellent.

Most of the Toyota dealerships use the TradeMotion backend for their web parts ordering system. Each dealership decides what markup they want, resulting in different pricing at different places. Probably the consistently best pricing seems to be at ToyotaPartSales.com
They have just the mast for $25.53

In fact, I think I'll get a new antenna from them right now...

Thanks guys...

I will give that a look...it just looked a lil suspicous... I have also saw several on ePay as well... along with some very interesting dash dial plates... probably would be a major pain to install... but they look cool...

Welcome Cujo31, Nice truck. Just pick up an antenna at a yard, about 10 bucks around me. Hope you have as good of luck with your steering link as me, new tie rods and alignment total cost $0. Your not too far from Crandon, nice trails up there. Antigo is supposed to have some but I haven't checked them out yet. Tigerton Lumber useto let you on their logging trails but heard not anymore, too bad. It's not too cold in Wisconsin, I spent today putting heat tapes in the gutters at Fleet Farm in Clintonville. Well maybe a little brisk.

Nice to meet ya Dublin and thanks for the wheelin' tips....

Yukiko came home last night with no problems and she has been a champ all day today....

I do have a few minor questions...

How hard are the factory speakers to get at and replace? seems the passenger front is toast... and the ones in the back rattle like they may be blown....How do you get in at them?

CD player works ok (a bit too sensitive on the bumps) and cassette still works (using that for my 60 GB MP3 player).

anyway....give me some clue on the speakers....

Also.... are all the gas gauges slow on this model? I filled up the tank last night and it took it FOREVER for the needle to get to full....??????

OD on all the time.... or off... what is better economically? What are teh pro's con's????

Ok....that's enough stupid questions for now

Never tackeled the speakers, had the Best Buy guys do it for me. On this site "Search" is your friend, here's one that should help.

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...eakers+install

Slow gas gauge, Yah got one of them too. Fill it up and about the time I get home the gauge finally makes its way up. Another one you'll notice once it warms up is the oil gauge, they tend to be on the low side. I don't worry about it since it's been that way for the 102000 miles I've put on her. OD OFF in the city, ON for highway, OFF for towing, mountains and deep snow. It's a bit of a fuel saver on the highway for extentended trips (lower rpms and an additional gear). ECT the one you didn't ask about changes the shift points, for me it seems to use more fuel, for others less. Could be the way I drive. I prefer "uninformed" over "stupid" mostly because it would be stupid not to ask, so ask away.

ECT Should be on floor console near the shifter before/iinfront of the rear window switch.

BTW, be sure to grease the plastic cogs of the new antenna mast when installing it.

Morning all!

Just wanted to say that I put about 350 miles ont he Yota this weekend and yukiko did a wonderful job...no probs at all...

I still have to calculate fuel mileage etc... but I'll get yout he figures later today... overall she did well... comfortable ride....

Just have to get used to hopping up into the cab as opposed to slipping down into the beetle...

The CD player I think either has a short or is just horribly over sensitive to bouncing... every time I hit a bump it would skip horribly....Perhaps it is time to replace it with somehing newer....

Any recommendations on stereos that fit this install and how difficult is it removing the factory head unit???

Thanks!
Cujo

Is it the factory unit, if it is I would pick out some think you like (maybe an am/fm/cd/mp3/satillite radio) and be sure to get an adapter harness (Toyota to brand X about 18 bucks) just makes for an easy install. Yours is probably a double din so you you could put an empty din pocket below the radio or it makes a great spot for a cb. The old unit comes out pretty easliy I thought there was a writeup of sorts here somewhere. A search should point you in the right direction.

Arrow Antanae Issues (New Question)

Ok...

FINALLY got the antanae from the stealer on eBay... paid for it on Feb 15th and just got it today....JEEZ!

anyway... went to remove the old antanae... and I get off the four pin tap on top and the plastic... but the antanae will not release and come out... even if I try to slightly pull it will NOT budge...

I do have the ignition on... but nothing... and I do not hear a antanae motor or anything engage when I turn the switch on... am I going to have to replace that? or has the wire or fuse been buggered with by a PO? How would I check? I don't see a easy way to really get to that area???

Anyone???

Matt

EDIT: After getting a bit brave with a pair of plyers, I was able to get the antanae free... but as I said...there is no noise of the antanae motor kicking on or off with a the ignition switch.... what next???

It shouldn't 'click-on' with the ignition switch anyways.

The power antenna gets it's signal from the stereo. If the stereo is on, it should signal it to extend. Off=retract.

This wire can also be used to turn on remote amplifiers, etc. The wire should supply 12V to pwr antenna motor when the stereo is turned on.

If you can find the wire, and it is loose, touching it to 12V source will simulate.

Generic power antenna masts (from flaps) will work on 2nd gen 4-runners, if you ever need another.

Nice Baja, by the way. I'm a VW gearhead too. Just sold a 2180cc 'Glass buggy, and a rail. I've owned a few dozen in the last 5 years or so, just gotten out of them into something a little more stable..

When I bought my 94, the antenna had been damaged at some point prior. The PO had gone in through the front fender liner and unplugged the antenna motor.

I went in, fixed the retracting mechanism, and plugged the motor back in. Everything works fine now. You may want to check and see if the antenna relay (left of the steering column under the dash) is still plugged in too. It has "power antenna relay" printed on the little black box, hard to miss.

good luck,
Andy.

UncleBob Thanks! And thanks for the comment on the Baja! She is fun.

AndYota I just took a look under the dash and didn't see anything... not that looked like what you described...

However I did see two cut wires... one green the other white... I hope this is not where the relay USED to be...

Give me just a few minutes and I'll post up a pic from under the dash so you can see what I am talking about...

Cool,

When I get home in an hour or so, I'll get the digicam out and take a shot of that I found too.
