Head Gasket Question
Well I might give out more question then just a HG question..
Just bought the truck 7 months ago and it was nice driving it until it is having problem and problem is that cylinder #1 is leaking coolant inside, already did a compressor test on all cylinder which cylinder #1 only have 150 psi, if I add a bit of oil into it, it will be upto 170 psi, all cylinder has around 165 to 170 psi, on the cross over pipe there is a crack and coolant was dripping out from it so I know it should be coming from cylinder #1, when it is on idle it will hasitate to run smoothly so anytime soon I will have to condemn the engine but I was wondering since I'm the new owner of the truck do I still qualify for the head gasket recall 50n? previous owner didn't mention anything about the head gasket and found it out late after buying the truck, I already know that the 50n recall is been called off so anyway I'll try to call them if my truck is available for one cause I'm the new owner which I didn't know that there is a recall toward to these truck, and if I was giong to replace the head gasket, is it hard to do the job? I'm a newbie and I definitely need the FSM to do the job so is it good for me to do the job? I know nothing about adjusting valve to gapping and all this work will be from following FSM so I don't know if I'm ready for it but it is a good thing to explore it, so should I do it or let the mech. shop to do it? I do remember that toyota use long block to replace the short block so I don't know if my top end will fit to it if I was to get the long block.
By the way how much $$ if I was to condemn the 3.0 engine? or should I swap it to the 3.4 5vz-fe? I got a offer from a shop for $4,000 to do all the work on my truck with the use 3.4 V6.
