head differences

Ive tried searching the forum and google to find the answer but im still puzzled. My buddy has an '86 22RET with a cracked head. We are fully rebuilding it and he needs another head obviously. Will a 22RE head run on a 22RET? If so, are the cams the same or do we need to run the 22RET cam? Im guessing if the heads are interchangeable, the compression ratio is higher if we used the 22re head but does anybody know by how much? Thanks for any help. Also, he plans on turning the boost up eventually so I thought that it would be an important thing to consider when running the 22re head if its possible

Cam is the same between 22R, 22RE, and 22RTE

Not sure on the head casting.

Looks like the 22rte head is based on the late 22r head (shorter deck height) but has a different shaped combustion chamber and some different oil galleys. A pirate forum said it will bolt on but have some issues, another said it will bolt on and run perfect.

Looks like you may have compression issues running the RE head with higher boost set ups.
