It is happening again...
Tonight I cranked the truck up to go to the gym. Plop... plop... plop... I touch the gas pedal then vroooooommm... Everything then went smooth. Is it ever going to just run right? What in the world can cause this now? It completely goes away when I touch the gas...

If your sure no wires are loose, plugs/distributor, then you may need to check the timing. Is the idle too low? Or is it more of a stutter/miss type deal? And make sure everything is air tight, no vac leaks or loose intake hoses.

It is more like a stutter, kind of like trying to take off in 4th. We tried to bump the idle up a full turn, but nothing changed... This ran good all day today, I came home and washed the truck. Went to go to the gym and idle was plop... plop...plop..
Please excuse the childish words but I have no other way to explain it...

It is really weird.. Idle made no difference, but a small tap on the gas and it goes away. It did this the other day after flushing engine out before new rad install, but after a drive up the road it went away. So I figured maybe something got wet.

Would it run for two days with no problem and then start acting up? I did notice it was running maybe a 16th over the line on a 6 mile drive. IS running really cool link to anything that would cause the problem?

check the spark plug wire on the passenger side to the very rear make sure its not grounding out intermediality on the metal wire holder for that wire. Mine did that once and felt like it was running on 4 cylinders on and then and my Buddy told me to check that wire and low and behold it was grounding out off and on on that mount.

Just pulled cap and rotor and it checked out fine. It was replaced a couple of weeks ago.
I forgot to mention it was 22re, nice hard tail.
Ok. So if it runs fine when going down the road, that means that is not is not misfiring right? Gas is getting there. So what changes when you press the gas pedal?

This is the thing. I rode about 60 miles today, with absolutely no trouble. Parked it, cleaned it out and up, got ready to go to the gym and then this. So here is where I am at.
New:
Timing chain
Timing chain cover
water pump
oil pump
pcv valve
vac hoses
radiator/ hoses /coolant 50/50
Cap/Rotor/plugs/wires
header
O2
oil/filter
I am trying to figure out what is going on so I can quit dumping money into unnecessary items. Correct me if I am wrong, but if any of the above were messed up then it would not run smooth once engaged and going down the road, it only does it when I let off the gas out of gear. Someone else has had to have had this problem before.

Yeah, check for codes. The TPS is a little tricky, so I want you to try something else first. O.k., your saying that a light pressure on the throttle alleviates the symptoms. This leads me to believe that that there is the problem. ? you say. There's an adjustment that limits the amount the throttle plate can shut when the accelerator is released. I forgot what it's called, it's next to the dashpot. It's basically a screw that limits or acts as a bumpstop for the throttle to keep the plate just a small crack open. If you turn the screw in a bit it will act just like applying pressure to the gas pedal. This is gonna change the idle which will likely need to be turned down a tad. You want to have it adjusted so it will just keep you out of that rpm range that's causing the stuttery nonsense, or so that you DON'T need to bump the throttle to get it to correct itself. So keep bumping it while your adjusting it so you don't go too far in, just far enough so that when you bump it it doesn't wan't to fall down to that funky idle. I don't know how much of this is gonna make sense, but I could show ya what I mean. I hope you get some of it. Anyway don't fuss with the TPS, till last. I thinking you won't need to. Well, bedtime, check ya tomorrow.
