seriously though.. dont with people who handle\prepare or serve your food. there are some really messed up people and if you happen to catch them on the wrong day or something.. you could end up with a few xacto blades in your burger..
ive read about stuff like that..

Doing burn-outs and the like any place but a race track or drag strip around here is called "stunting" or "street racing" and will net you an automatic 7 day licence suspension, road side siezure of your car for 7 days and up to $10,000.00 fine [for the first offence] + a dangerous driving charge. Impound yard can charge over $300.00/day for storage x 7days + towing fee as well. That burn-out nonsence is not worth it.
Helmet and seat belt laws save lives. Idiots not buckling up is one reason why you are surrounded by armed explosive devices [airbags] when you drive a newer car these days.

People are really strange. I like most of you guys, well all of you, but honestly...when is it going to be the case that when your number is up, your number is up? Why does anyone have to watch out for anyone else except themselves? Why does it have to be legislated?

And you live in Canada. Not to start a nationality debate, but clearly Canadians think a bit different than us Americans. The fact that doing a burn out can get you in that kind of trouble is simply amazing. Why can't people just leave the guy alone? If he wants to be an idiot on his own, go for it! The most he should be charged with is vandalism, nothing more.

And airbags can kill you just as much as save you. Look it up. Seatbelts are a great thing and should always be used...but not mandated. Let the gene pool be cleansed...if you save idiots, they breed.

I agree about everything except the air bags! My sister would not be here right now, if her camry didnt have air bags and if she didnt wear her seatbelt.

There is a rule in my car, it doesnt move untill everyone has a seatbelt on, in texas if you are over 18 you dont have to wear a seatbelt in the back seat, but in my car you do, I dont care if my grandmother is in the back seat, she will wear a seatbelt!

The burn out thing, let the guy have his fun, if he wants to spin his spider gears into oblivion, let him. And i doubt your making fun of him is going to make his stop anyways!!

I don't think this has been mentioned but if you look at a jeep when they take the doors off there is still a lip that comes up about 6 inches from the floor, this helps to keep stuff from rolling out when driving, as long as you have something to keep stuff from flying out you should normally be ok. And cops normally don't bother vehicles for this stuff, they prefer to go after the rice rockets with their illegal engine modifications and stuff that does not meet C.A.R.B. specifications in CA.

Yes, Jeeps have tubs to prevent articles from rolling out of the vehicle, we don't. My half doors are cut from original doors, retain the window frame, and may be closed with soft windows. Not that that makes them legal, or illegal.

Check sections 206 and 214 in particular and 201 to a lesser extent.
You could very well be cited for modifying your doors and would, in court, have to justify your modifications based on FMVSS statutes in effect either at the time of manufacture/first sale or at time of modification, whichever is the most restrictive of the two.
AFAIK those are standards applied to manufacturers of autos and trucks. You won't be ticketed for them. With local/state laws, YMMV. No hassles in Colorado.

Doors are important too. Think of how many hand/arm injuries there are on 'wheelers that flop or roll over when peoples arms aren't kept inside the structure... and that's at LOW speeds. What happens if you get t-boned at an intersection where the other vehicle is going HIGH speed and you tumble around a few times?

I always think of things from a racecar perspective. Safety netting on windows are to keep your arms inside. Harnesses are to keep you in your seat. Roll bar or cage to keep your roof from squishing you. If it works at 200mph, it will work at 70 on the freeway.

Now, you wanna go 'wheel with tube doors or 1/2 doors or no doors? Go ahead. You're not doing 70 on the highway and the chances of a high speed impact with another vehicle are smaller. But tuck your arms to your chest if you're flopping. And wear your seatbelt.

i agree with you about the seatbelts and helmets because they acually help save lives but how is a toyota door going to do anything to save your life its like a milimeter of metal that will just crush you if it got hit. although if i took my doors off i would put in tube doors just because i would feel safer.

You guys need to chill and stop calling the poor dude out on squeeling of the tires, I do it around corners all the time, its not imature, maybe its just fun, leave the dude alone, If he gets hurt or pulled over thats his problem not yours.

In my opinion (not that anyone cares) the door thing doesn't add up. I understand seatbelts in cars, I understand helmets on bikes, though I feel adults should have the choice.

Doors? I would hope a bike cop would never try to cite me for it. I'd ask to borrow the ones off his/her ride...

It sucks because it was my first time to ever be pulled over and I'm getting this huge penalty and hassle (I have to appear in court, they're gonna take 6 out of 12 points off my license, etc) and I have a friend who's been pulled over 4 times , once going 105 in a 65, and he's never even had a fine.

That cop must have just been pissed at me for some reason.

BTW, I was going downhill and I didn't want to go crazy on the brakes. We're talking mountain grades here.
Check your local laws, some states (most) allow for a certain % of speed increase on grades over a certain % & a lot of Judges will let you off if you respectfully put up a knowledgeable defense & don't just argue how it's all BS & the man is out to get you.

Hope that helps.

That millimeter of metal will prevent things from entering the cab and keep your arms in in the event of a rollover and it is better than having no doors period but if an adult wants to drive that way I don't have a problem with it.
