Gearing question...

Hi

I've got a 92 V6 4x4 5 speed 4runner and it's got 4.56 gears.

I need 4.10's and I found someone here who's got a 3rd Gen truck and he wants to swap. Since I don't want to take anything apart, I just wanted to swap the whole rear axle and whole front diff.

Are these parts interchangable between the two trucks? IIRC the 3rd gen had the driveshaft in front on the other side of the trans......my luck this is a no go?

Tx!

youll have to get it out of another v6 if you just want to swap the 3rd member, 4 cylinder 3rd members are a little bit different than the v6's

Just curious. Why do you want to go to 4.10's?

Most people want to go the other way.

This is wrong. The 4cyl diffs can be swapped with the v6 diffs if you are swapping out the entire differential. Perhaps you were meaning to say that the carriers within the diff cannot be swapped into a different diff, ie the 4cyl carrier will not fit into a v6 diff housing.

here's a super helpful link http://home.4x4wire.com/erik/diffs/

Yeah. Weird. I am swapping from 4.10s to 4.56s bc I went from 28" tires to 31" tires.
