Gear Question (multipule donor vehicles)
I have a 89 pikcup sr5 4x4, I just went to a wreck yard, and they have 3 runners in there, and want to sell me the carrieres/gears (cheap!) They don't need them, or have a use for them. I pulled the numbers from the doors. If anyone could link the info so I can figure it out, or help me out id appreciate it. And I started to think if its a possiblity of one of the runners having a e locker I could use that and kill 2 birds with one stone. Instead of having to buy a elockers as well. And I could put a spool in the front and be set.
thanks in advance guys.

G072 is 3.90. Probably a 2wd, eh?
the G144 is 4.88
A03a is 4.10, but thats from a 3rd gen so it wouldnt fit in your truck anyways.

Slightly off topic...but you brought it up...DON'T SPOOL THE FRONT!!!!! Lunchbox or arb. Full locked in the front is a pain to turn, even on the trail. I can feel the driveline building pressure every time I forget to unlock my front.

For the nood questions, but the carriers from the 93 will bolt up to mine? Or do I need to pull the gears from that to put into my carriers/housings.. never done gears before

I haven't done gears before either, but if my research/memory serves me correctly, it should swap right in place... Get a second opinion before continuing though, because I'm not 100% sure... lol

All '79-'95 trucks and 4runners that use an 8" differential, either front or rear, will interchange and bolt up. No need to swap just the gears. The diff housing is the same (mostly) but will bolt up.

I found the aussie lunchbox lockers online with a 2 year warranty for around around 250-270 should I just put aussies in the front and back? Would that be a good reliable setup for mild/moderate wheeling and hold up to noob wheeling and as I get more experienced?

And I forgot to add, im probly going to pick up the 4.88's because im running 33x12.50 x16.50 right now. When these tires go. Im probly going to pick up new rims and run 33x10.50x15 not too fond of the 16.50's

Where in the world did you find 6lug 16.5 wheels? That's an oddity for sure. I just found a set of 4.88 factory doffs from a couple of different Runners in the local yards. The 3rds will all interchange. I already have a 4.10 V6 Runner complete axle under my '84, so the thirds will just be a bolt over swap. Luckily I will get to do front and rear with factory 4.88s. I hope they last.... I'm never one to have great luck with used parts. Lol

I was wondering where the flying hell the PO got 6 lug 16.50s from too.. and why??? Why not just put 15" rims... soo awkward.. but hey to each their own, maybe he had them laying around or something.

It must be a pain to find tires for a 16.5 rim... I'd make the switch to 15's if I were you... lol
