I've read a lot of posts on here and it seems tha 4.88s are the way to go with 33s and 5.29s are good for 35s. BUT, according to the gear chart at 4wheelparts websight, 4.88s would be perfectly in range for a daily driver on 35s. Seeing how I drive this truck on the highway at 65-70mph, which tire size would be best for my 4.88 gears?? I'm just getting started building this truck, so I could go in any direction with the lift options. I just want to get it right the first time. By the way, it's a healthy 22re mated to a 5 speed. I already have the 4.88s, so what tire size is best suited to these gears for highway driving??

I would say go with the 33s. If you look on the 4wheelparts website at the bottom of the chart it says for underpowered vehicles use the next gear size up. Although some would say that the 22re is not underpowered I would still say stick to 33s

 

stick with the 33's... i mean 35's would work, but you might not like the loss of power...

 

If I remember correct that 4WP chart is for Tacomas. It says 4.10s are perfect for 31s, which isn't the case. Useable power and fuel economy went up when i went to 4.56s, so I have to assume that chart is either wrong or for another vehicle.

 

I'm running 31s right now with the stock 4.10s, so I'm guessing that 35s with 4.88s would give about the same "feel" that I have now. Is that about right??

The 4WP chart is from the 60's and is based on a powerful, thirsty V8.

MUCH better to rev our little motors than to lug them.
