gauge cluster keeps dieing

I have no idea where to start looking. I have replaced the fuse 3 times. I replace it cut the truck on gauges work then boom quit working. Replace fuse. same ole again.

First off anyone know the correct size fuse?

2nd where do I start looking at?

3rd it hasn't done this before. Took an hour long trip yesterday and came back no problem. This hasn't happened before.

Its a 1990 p/u 4x4 22re

I do have a Sr5 cluster swapd in but its been in for months now with no problems till today.

Thanks!

I will add that it cuts off the blower motor as well but headlights and blinkers keep working.

I just got this battle finished with mine yesterday. My blinkers didnt work ,just hazards and none of the guages. You didnt say what fuse, but I am guessing ENG. It is the blue 15 amp. There are several circuits on it.

From what little info I found it is normally the Tranny Reverse Light switch located on the drivers side. At the end of the protective sleeve, the wire can get rubbed bare, thus shorting out. It can come and go. Sometimes it will last awhile and then come back.

Another possibility is not all of the correct ground wires are there. On post #343 on my build thread, you can find a link with all of the correct grounds.

Well I'm gunna assume all the correct grounds are there as it has been working correct up until yesterday.

Should have said its an automatic. And I think you might be onto something with the nuetral safety switch wire because twice now it has not wanted to come out of park.

You are talking about on the side or the transmission correct?

My tranny is a manual and it is located on the drivers side on the tranny. It also has a cable that I think goes to the transfer case that is connected in the same wire bundle, but that is on the passenger side of tranny.
