Gas tank identification
This exercise stems out of trying to find the correct fuel sending unit for a 1986 Toyota 4x4 SR5. It is a RN64 VIN truck that started life as EFI, but was changed to a carb by the time I bought it.
I have a sneaky suspicion that the gas tank has been changed and that makes it a challenge to get the correct fuel sending unit.
This is the general picture I can find of the correct tank.

Notice that the two holes in the top are rather close together?
The tank currently bolted in to the truck looks like this one though.

Notice that the holes are farther apart.
I really don't know if it matters when searching for a fuel sending unit, but there are several fuel sending units listed in the parts manual.
Is anyone a fuel tank / sending unit expert on here?
