Hello, I have an 87 pickup with a g54 that came in the truck. My fifth gear has been making noise and it started to pop out of second often. Bought a forward shift w56 to swap in and found out that the transfer case used on the g54 is the same but has about 1/2 inch longer shift rails than the transfer case used on the w56.


Does anyone know where I can find the shift rails for an rf1a transfer case that was used on a forward shift w56?


Or


Does anyone have a doner transfer case that I can buy the shift rails?


Options now are 1. get the shift rails and used my transferase which was rebuilt about 50K ago 2. buy a rebuilt that is questionable 3. have the shop that rebuilt the w56 rebuild my old g54


I would really like to keep my transfer case and the new tranny if possible


Any help is appreciated

 

Did you ever get this issue resolved? I am about to do the same tranny swap in mine.
