Fuel pump running but no fuel?

I took off the bed of my truck hooked up a clear vinyl tube to the fuel line, jumped the diagnosis box and ran the pump. Nothing came out, is it possible to install the fuel pump backwards? I even added gas thinking maybe there wasn't enough.

If the wires were hooked up backwards, the fuel pump will run backwards.

I would check the wiring and see if the pump will draw fuel into the tank through the vinyl tube.

Pretty sure the check valve and vane shape will prevent this..

It's either wired backwards, the I tank filter is plugged, or the bypass is wide open (pretty sure even then some should get through).
