Mine did it would come on when there was about 80km range left in tank or a little less than 10L. My 94 [3rd gen] is supposed to have one but no one I've spoken with has ever had one that worked... even from new.
My mech. told me that it is a seperate sensor on the sender that triggers it and it [the sensor] can go bad.

My SR5 clusters do not have the working light, but the Non-SR5 one in my 86 had the light. All my MR2's, which have Tachs, have the light, so thats weird.

I've got an 86 it seems to come on at about 10L/80km/50mi like aviator said.

I'm not certain because I've got an SR5 guage cluster but the light is in the lower R/H corner. shouldn't be too different from your truck. If yours is working.

im pretty sure its sposed to have one.. my 89 has a spot for the light but it never lights up...i figure the bulbs burnt out but im to lazy to fill it up and i dont believe in letting a tank get that low before filling it up anyways (dont like water getting into the injectors at all)

They had it in the DLX cluster also but as I recall the light was in the opposite corner.... on the 3gens [89-95] the light is supposed to be a little red diode thingy in the upper left corner of the fuel gauge according to the owner's manual... does anybody's light actually work? should start a thread about that....

i can see where the light is supposed to be, next to the fuel gauge. it's never come on, and i've run on fumes on occasion.

Blue87: Most were not, and did not have the tach. But if it does, chances are the fuel light isn't present, or doesn't work.

thats true since he said he has a 22R, and doesnt have EFI that would lead me to believe that it is a DLX

Ive got a 94 reg cab, and it looks like it has a light. I've had about 3/4 of a gallon of gas before, and it never lit up. I don't think mine works.

My old '87 had one in the right hand corner of the gauge cluster if I remember correctly.Thats the only way I knew when to fuel up because the fuel gauge went out at about 110,000.
