fuel filter hell
OMG there must be a better place to put that filterwhat, were they thinking?
Ok so I am wondering where to move it to, and the best way to do it. Any suggestions would be most welcome.
I want to go with a straight line where the filter is on the block and move it to the frame some where near the fuel tank. I just know one thing....wont go through that again.

Which truck you have? I too wish it was else where other then the bolck, but have learned how to get to them. I replace mine just by feel and usually cant see what I am doing. Each truck is a little different and I have different approach for each year style.

Three years in one
My truck has an 80 body, 89 22RE, 93 4runner chasi she is pretty cool. If you go to my member gallery there r pics. It was a serious challenge to get to that filter and I so don't want to do that in the future so I am going to move it to the frame. May have to customise the fuel lines
myself, but it will be worth it.

I replaced my fuel line and moved the filter on my truck
I used flexible plastic fuel line and moved the filter under the hood just below the wiper motor. I'm happy with how it worked out. The only thing you need to worry about with plastic fuel lines is rubbing and heat. make sure the line is secured and does not have slack where it will rub against the frame or other hard points that may cause holes later on. I ran it it and used the proper clamps with rubber gromets. All the parts and disconnects are generic and purchased from the local auto store. Now the filter it super easy to change and I don't have to worry about the line rusting out again.
Proceed with caution and use some judgement if you decide to swap your lines

Just helped my dad do his fuel filter on his '89 22RE. We struggled with it for awhile, we could get the bottom bolt started real easy. Is was the top bolt that was a pain in the butt. We were about to relocate it, but come up with an idea. We just took some tin snips and clipped a v notch on top bolt. Left enough for the bolt to still hold filter in place. Then you start top bolt, slide filter in place, sliding top of filter in to already started top bolt. Then put in bottom bolt, tighten and done. I should of taken pics but I didn't. It also helps if you have some wobbly joints for your wrench. Hope this helps and made since.
