Fuel filter causing misfire?
My 22re which has always run flawlessly since I got it second hand, has started to have a occasional severe misfire/stumbling issue. It's intermittent and feels like it has to do with throttle opening. My brother who was original owner says its the fuel filter and a bitch to change. I'm due California smog check by end of September, so I'm just going to give it to the smog guy to solve in advance. He's got a couple of older Yotas like my '89, and fixed me up after it failed smog a couple of years ago for one emission a little over the limit. I expect that he will take care of this ok. Just curious if this is a common symptom of fuel filter needing service? THanks, Jim.

it could be a number of things, but if the fuel filter is really old, changing it is routine maintenance.
sounds like you don't want to work on this vehicle yourself? understandable, but if that's the case just take it to the mechanic and let him troubleshoot it.
fwiw the most minimum thing you could do is check to see if it's thrown any codes.
