Another reason I have left my valance, I now have two sets of tires. 90% of my driving is on road and our winter season which would include snow/ice is only about 3 months long.
That said, I run my 235/75/15 on factory steels for economy (helps out with that F'ING retarded gas price we are getting raped on non-stop)
When I plan on wheeling or during snow months, I bolt up 31x10.50's.
The 235's look a little wimpy espically with the valance removed. 31's look perfect for the body size and look even better with the valance removed.
Sounds silly, but I looked at my truck one day with no valance and the 235's and it looked pitiful.

Shoot, im not ashamed. Gas prices are painful. Im old enough to remember paying 85 cents a gallon for .89 Octane. (thats right you young grasshoppa's, thats 85 CENTS for 89 octane) I had an 88 S-10 Blazer on 35's and might have gotten 10 miles a gallon out of that beast, but who cared at that price.
Now, pushing $4.00 a gallon for crap cut with corn juice? I have no shame in running pizza cutters for my pavement pounding.

For you guys who have had the valance and then removed it, have you noticed a difference in MPG's one way or another? I've never had a valance on mine and was curious if I need to start looking for one.

^i can't really see the valance changing the aerodynamics enough to change the MPGs. if it were more involved in the aerodynamics of the vehicle (like the extended bumpers on most SUVs these days) then i could see it making a difference because that thing's like 12"+ in height and is designed to move air in a more aerodynamic fashion.
i could possibly see 'some' MPG difference in running a skidplate vs without but probably not enough to notice.

I think that body style does look better with no valance. I have the body style after that one and it dont look as good valance-less. However after starting this thread, Im kinda liking a cut valance for my truck.

Not had a valance since I've had the truck. That's reason I was asking about the MPG's with one. If it would help a little, I'd go pick one up and slap it on.
PS truck looks a lot different now with 2" bl and the bumper is black with no end caps

i currently run mine with just a valence, no skid. no skid when i bought it, going to get one (either stock, or custom replacement) my valence has a nice square (hitch reciever on a lexus) dent in the center. my cross-member also shows a slight result from the lexus impact (not my fault)

I painted both the skid plate and valance when I got the truck. A couple months later the skid got ripped off in the mud.
Currently the valance is all beat up but still on there, I won't take it off til I get bigger tires and they won't clear, or til I find a new one that isn't beat up.
I think they look goofy without the valance.

cut my valance up today and added offroad lights to bumper had a big dent in valance from hitting a stump on pass side, turn signal is still busted from it never had a skit plate when i bought it but if i had one i imagine it would make oil changes harder

I have both the valance and the skid plate on my truck. I think it looks weird without them. Like instead of taking the valance off if the tires rub, just trim it.

Both still on...not sure how one could run with the skidplate off as the lower radiator hose is totally exposed...anything flying up from the road could tear into the hose and ruin someones day..

It didn't have a single scratch on it at the start of the trip...
Can't see it too well but I dented it pretty good. I didn't notice till I got home, but I remember exactly when it happened.
