I would think since the hubs are unlocked and you are in 2wd, the front wheels would be disconnected from everything in the drive train and you could drive around with no problems.

Not an issue, with the hubs unlocked you notice no difference.

On a loose surface with the hubs locked but in two wheel drive, the steering is just about normal. I run this way on the easy stuff so that I do not have to deal with the steering.

I have Lockrights front/rear.

Yep a front locker won't affect your steering in 2wd, but wait till you put it in 4wd that thing will be pullin all over the place.

well the only dumb question is one not asked.

But if you just stop and think about it for a second. Ask yourself what the hubs actually do? Then you would of answered your own question.

Red face

please Explain a little better what you mean by pulling all over the place.

You are saying it is best to not put a locker in the front.

i can see your point if you can`t control the vehicle at less than 20 mph.

i was going to do the front axle in my 87 4Runner

Im not saying that you shouldn't lock your front axle - mine is. But i pretty much only use 4lo, because in 4wd locked at high speeds it is kinda tough to steer.

When you lock in your front axle you lose a good deal of turning radius and also since both wheels are turning together, steering becomes more difficult.

Not sure if you can get a spool for a 7.5" IFS but you can always just weld the spider gears and wheel with one hub locked in, then lock the other when you get to the tough stuff. Thats what im running in my 88 runner.

well i figured that with the hubs unlocked it would make absolutely no difference. but someone in my family told me that it would still make it turn bad.
but in my mind, i knew that it could make it turn bad with the hubs unlocked because nothing is holding anything when they are? so thank yall for the info. it helped.

i saw one of yall said earlier that no one made a spool for the ifs, how sure are yall of that, because that is what i wanted to do
