Front end Clunk/Pop

Recently I've noticed a clunk/metal-on-metal pop noise coming from the front end of my 4runner. It usually happens immediately when I start moving after having shifted from drive to reverse, althought I also hear it sometimes when turning slowly in reverse and just before I come to a complete stop. It is not the bolts that limit turn radius, and I replaced the CV joints about 6 months ago. Any ideas would be helpful.

make sure the lower control arm bushing bolts are tight (don't turn the adjuster itself, just the nut)

Things to check:

Wheel bearings
Ball joints
Idler arm

Greased up the upper ball joints and all the U joints. I'm suspecting it may be the wheel bearings as they are slightly loose. Any other ideas?

Thats about it for the known problem parts. I would do the bearings and see where you stand....
