front end *clunk*
Probably a bit of a shot in the dark but I am looking for a few ideas on what might be the cause of what I can best describe as a clunk coming from the front passenger wheel. It is VERY pronounced and a common occurance while wheeling the truck but I occasionly hear it while turning tightly driving around town. I really dont know what to look for as far as what needs fixing.

Well I also experience this noise when I am wheeling and not necessarily turning very sharp. Could steering stops cause a clunk even when you are turning slightly? What about worn balljoints, would they create any kind of noise?

I drove mine like that for a while before I knew it was the idler arm. I didn't have any problem when I put on a new idler arm assembly. From what I've read it's possible to change the bushing(s) in the idler arm. I suppose that driving the truck with extremely worn bushings might damage the housing to the point that bushing replacement would be impossible. I'm sure you could imagine a worst case scenario if the idler arm were to fail entirely. The most commom fix for the idler arm clunk is to just put on a new idler arm assembly. Toyota of Dallas will give you a great price on an OEM idler arm. If cash isn't an object the Total Chaos idler arm is very flash!
