Question Front drive shaft problem

When ever I'm in 4WD the fron end would violently shake. I got under there and sure enough the whole shaft is wobbling around. I thought it was the U-joint, but it turned out to be the constant velocity ball in between the two U-joints. Somehow its all banged up.

Anythought on where to get a new shaft or how to fix it. Thanks

Try a junkyard. A local driveline shop may be able to fix it, but I'm not sure about that.

I have a couple spares, but I'm about 4-6 hours from ya.... (i think). I'd start at a bone yard and go from there.

EDIT: nice GSD

I'd try a local bone yard or the classifieds online for one in better shape. It will probably cost a lot to get a new one.

dunno. I'd tear it apart and take a look. see what ya got, and what it would take to fix. then go from there.

Is it also known as the propeller shaft?

Yes. Toyota calls the driveshafts propeller shafts. The joint on the propeller shaft you're talking about is called a double carden joint.

Always a chance.

I seen this on NapaOnline.com

Price: $54.99
I wouldn't know exactly what's involved. Haven't done it yet myself, but it looks interesting.
