Front Differential - Stupid ? for the night
OK - Here is tonights dumb question.
I have had to remove (at great difficulty) the front differential from my 93 Runner - in order to pull the engine.
Now that it is out on the ground, I can see that it has some orange gasket gunk on it so I can only suspect it has been gone through at one time or another.
Question - How reliable are these? Should I take it somewhere and have it opened up and inspected? Are there seals that should be changed just cause I have it on the ground?
If this is a good idea, where is a good source for seals, parts etc.. for this differential.
This runner has 103,000 miles, and I'm sure they were city miles and it probably hasn't been used much in 4x mode. Doesn 't appear to be leaking.

funny, we just finished pulling the motor out of my brothers 92' toyota pickup V6. i saw the orange stuff, its on his too, but i think its supposed to be there.
Although we didn't have to remove the diff, i think we got lucky and worked around it, pulling his tranny and transfer case with it. He thought the whole thing would take 4 hours...here we are almost 4 days later and he still hasn't started putting it back in.
