Front Diff Leaking

it looks like its leaking from where the front driveshaft goes into it. could it be a bad seal? how hard is it to replace this seal?

Search "pinion seal", I'm afraid I don't know much about replacing it.

Pinion seal. Did mine in about an hour. Not too bad.

does replacing it jeopardize the preload on the pinion bearing and crush sleeve and such?

not unless u crank the hell out of the pinion nut. its an easy job
