Front axle pinion shaft seal
Well it looks like after years of no use,...then suddenly being put back into service,...my front axle pinion shaft seal on my 94' has started to leak.
Just wanted to know since I've never done one, just how tough are these to replace and should I expect to see a groove in the flange?

Not tough, but not what I call fun. Pretty cheap part, though. You'll need to remove the front driveshaft from the pinion end. Them wire it up to something, the frame maybe. It's easier with it out of the way entirely (removed from the veh.) instead of hanging there by one end, but it should be doable without. Other than that, just removing the pinion nut. If you put everything together exactly how it was, there's nothing complicated about the task.
Not sure what you mean by groove. If you mean a groove where the seal rides, possibly. But, it should be o.k. .

Very weird you posted this today. I was under my truck last night just lookin around... but i noticed some oil on my drivers side steering rack boot. I thought the boot was torn or something wrong with the rack. On my way to the office I dropped it at the shop.... front axle pinion seal. I replaced it... then decided while it was there, thrown in a few other things.
