Forum Approved Bilstein Heavy Duty
i am buying these shipped for $259.00. These are the ones everyone talks about, and swears by on Y/T Forum, right. speak up now. i don't want any na sayers after i order them. i have rancho 5000 now and they are ok, just want to try something new. i have read all the reviews and have decided on these.

I just installed Bilstein h/d's all around on my '93 extra-cab last month, I love them.
I could have gotten them a little cheaper off the net but, I chose to support one of my favorite shops, OK 4wd in Stewartsville, NJ, these guys have been here along time and have lots of experience with all makes of trucks.
They sell and install every major brand shock made, everyone there agreed that the Bilsteins were the very best choice for my truck.
I used to have a '98 extra-cab Tacoma TRD with the factory Bilsteins, they performed very well, so that seemed the way to go with my current truck, they just helped confirm that.
I like to keep all my trucks' suspension stock or very close to stock height, which again seems to make the Bilsteins the best choice.
My only complaint is that there was no sticker in any of the boxes, damn!

Holy 2 year thread again.
...and 2 years later here I am searching the same info.
The website link still has one of the cheaper prices for these.
I replaced my OEM shocks with RS5000, they were ok and have about 60k miles on them, but I think they are toasted, my truck rides like crap.
The truck is stock (no lift) only the 31 tires.
1. What's the best way to test shocks?
1. (a) should I just replace them anyway?
2. Obviously these Bilstein HD are still recommended for 91 4x4.
3. I have the 31x10.50 tires, will these work fine?
4. Bilstein HD Front and Rear? (There is usually very little weight in the bed of the truck)

Yes, Bilsteins front and rear. I just replaced my front Bilsteins after nine years; it felt like they were just starting to lose stiffness and allow the front end to bounce a little. I have had a rash of leakers in the rear; One lasted 6 years, it's replacement lasted 2 years; the other rear lasted 9 years and then started leaking. The fronts never leaked. Bilstein replaced all the leakers.

Bilstein list the 5100 for a 3-4 inch lift, I believe its because of the length of the shock. Without a 3-4 inch lift i dont think the shocks would be able to expand to be usefull and would sound like they were bottoming out. Loop should work as long as they were high enough to allow the 5100 to fully cycle through.....G
