I'd have just stripped the paint then polished the aisins... or painted em to match the truck.

feels good doing it yourself though, doesn't it?

I just wanted them to look like originals, if not a little shinier

Yeah, it's good knowing that I can do things like this to my own vehicle and it's works in the end; god only know how much a shop would charge for such a tedious process, let alone a Toyota dealership...

Which is why so many of us do our own work. It feels great and saves money. Don't even get me started on the 3800$ timing chain job......

I think we should start a paypal account to distribute money to yotatech members that help others. kind of a pay your friends, not the dealer thing.
or maybe a 'tip the tech' account?

j/k

anyhow, you just saved yourself a wad of money, so what's next?

All joking aside I wish there were more folks closer to me that could drop by the house with an issue and let me help out. Hell it could be diff changes, valve adjustments, TPS, oil pump etc.... this stuff isn't hard. As long as they pay for the parts I'd do the work just to get some wrench time, and maybe a mug of coffee or two. I hate the fact that "techs" charge an insane amount of money for what I've found to be really easy jobs.

This attitude started years ago when a guy helped me, coached me actually, through a spring over axle conversion on a Scout in exchange for the axles I pulled out. It was a great feeling to do my own work with someone making sure I didn't mess it up.

here, lemme try to get the thread back, lol

What do yall think about that broken stud?

Those do just unscrew out right? If so, that's an easy replacement, as I'm sure I could find a stud the same size to replace it with around town.

It shouldn't harm anything with that one bolt missing for now, you think?

i think you are good to go. when you do get around to fixing it, just get some vice grips on it and unscrew it out.
