Well I've been rolling on 33s for about a year now and the crappy gas mileage and utter lack of driveability on the freeway finally got to me. So I had a little extra money after tax rebates and decided to spend it on regearing the diffs to 4.88s.

Long story short I sent the diffs to ZUK sometime last week and just got them back today and installed and tried them out and I can't believe I waited this long to do this. The difference is really sweet. It's not huge and epic but the way the power is put the road is so much more pleasant and usable.

If anyone out there is still on the fence about whether or not regearing is worth it take it from me and a bunch of other people on this forum it's well worth every penny.

I'd also like to thank ZUK (gearinstalls.com) for doing such an awesome job and being so helpful and communicative throughout the process. I usually do all my own work and don't like other people touching my truck but the quality and expediency with which the work was done was really comforting to someone like me.

I"ll be putting 33's on my truck in a couple of weeks after a body lift. I have an 88 22R 5 speed 4x4. Would you recommend that I plan on switching to 4.88s also? I do a lot of freeway travel. About 300 miles a week.

When I did my Runner the first time around I noticed the difference as soon as I let the clutch out the first time. This is why I harp on people to not lift their truck unless they plan on doing it all at once. Your drivetrain will thank you in the long run to. Being on the high end puts a lot of needless strain on your clutch, tranny, drivelines, and diffs.
