Finally pulled my 22r (pics)
So after much delay, I finally got the engine out of my truck. After pulling it out, I see that I'm in for a lot more than originally planned. The rings were stuck to the cylinder walls, so it took me 10 minutes to get the engine to move. Then, after that, I tried moving the camshaft, but that too is seized. The kid who had it before me ran it so hot that the metal around cylinders 1 and 2 on the block turned white.
Here are some pictures of what I'm going to be battling over spring break.
Check out how milky the oil/coolant mix is.
And, here's the side of the block that turned white.
At this point, I'm debating whether it's going to be worth it to do a complete rebuild, or whether I should just get another engine from the junkyard. My dad is also in favor of just going all out and throwing a 350 in, but because it's gonna be my DD, I'm not into the idea yet.
