Fan Removal kickin my butt!

Trying to take off the fan but having a hard time. When I tried to remove the nuts attaching the fan/clutch assembly to the water pump hub the whole assembly just turns with the nut. I would think that holding the fan blades still would hold everything else in place so the nuts would turn but instead the fan turns when the pulley doesn't. If that makes any sense at all. I have a feeling I am nuking this out but where and how do I keep the whole assembly still so I can turn the nuts?

you'll have to hold the waterpump pulley by HAND ... there is an sst for this , but obviously you dont own it .

usually , I will try squeeze the belt to the pulley .. and that helps .

are you just trying to remove the fan or the whole fan/clutch assembly? I think if you remove the fan first, you will have more room to hold the clutch assembly. http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...67timingbe.pdf
