I have a 88 Toyota pickup and the fan clutch is bad and don't have enough money to get a new one is there anyway that's safe and durable to lock the clutch so the fan spins with the speed of the engine no matter what?

 

How is it bad?

 

If you rev it the fan won't spin any faster it stays at a steady speed no matter what

 

For around $20 you can check the level and fill the silicone oil in the fan clutch. This worked for me.

What if that don't work

 

If that doesn't work my guess would be a bad fan clutch. But that is just a guess. I think that the reason it is not working is low silicone oil. The fan clutch needs the proper level of oil for centripetal force to be effective and operate properly, if the level is too low the fan will do just as you described and not increase in RPM as the engine RPM increases. It is free and easy to check the silicone oil level and if you find that it is low you can get silicone oil at any hobby shop.

 

When u first start it when its cold it will start to spin fast but then it will stop spinning with the engine speed

 

Another symptom of low silicone oil. As the engine warms up the oil viscosity changes and the fan clutch won't enguage properly.

 

How much would u put in it and wat kind would it recommend

 

The link I posted will walk you through how to and how much to put in. As far as what brand to use I don't think it really matters as long as it is rated at or close to 10000 Cst.
