Exhaust

I'm fustrated.

The local shops don't seem to want to help me out with exactly what I'm thinking of doing. So let me know what there is online or if you even like this idea.

I was originally thinking about going with 2.5" from the headers back with a stock or semi-stock muffler and no cat. I want more flow without the noise. I've also considered 2.5" from right before the cat back....... I'd be ok with sticking to 2.25" if I could open up the flow and keep the stock sound. Need some ideas..........online kits, personally innovations, etc. I'm on a budget too, so the less expensive the better.

My current exhaust is stock and leaking like a sieve from the cat back in about 3-4 different areas.

One last idea........I've got a stock exhaust off a '99 chevy V8 that I've wandered about fabracating to fit but I'm not sure how that will work.

Well you have the V6, So i'll mention what my set up is I highly recommend NOT doing my system if you dont want noise, my truck is loud... but not an annoying loud. its a great sound and it cost a fortune. with the V6 I'd go 2.25 exhaust. If you want quiet, go with a magnaflow 18" or 22" you said you dont want cats, just throw a straight pipe on there instead of a cat and run it to the muffler. It'll make it a little louder but flow much better with no restrictions. My truck has Doug thorley headers, magnaflow high flow cat, and a turbo style borla muffler. if you have money I highly recommend the muffler, ( its a 150 dollar muffler ) if you want a stock sound, just stick with stock and lastly, I highly recommend taking it to a shop. I think Dynomax is the only refabricated cat - back left that makes a system for 3.0s. all the others discontinued it.

Dont fab that chevy exhaust on your toyota, either.

The 3.0 natrual has growl i nthe exhaust... your not going to get much quiet at all i hate to tell you. If you take the cat off she will be much louder. I have one truck of mine that is a 90 4runner 3.0 with a gutted cat and flowmater muffler and it sounds like a growling v8 so yea... I think edelbrock sells headers for the 3.0.... not 100% sure... Keep it stock for no noise.... want better flow then put new exhuast on it... new muffler and cat but don't go over board.... i personally like the flowmaster it performs well....

I can set off car alarms just casually driving by. Parking garages are the best. most people would think its an annoying raspy sound, but honestly. its a very deep low toned growl.

heres a 10 minute video of me just casually driving around. I never reved past 3k.

the guy I take my truck to would have no problem taking my cat out. It isn't illegal if thats what you request on your vehicle... if you ask for no cat, thats not their problem, but its yours. since you wont past smog. lol

obviously, me being from california, dont have those laws...

If a cop pulls you over here and suspects your car/truck to not have a cat on, he can impound your car. honestly, It would happen more to a ricer more than one such as myself driving a 4runner... you could probably get away with it. but why take that chance. i would love to straight pipe my truck and have just the muffler but hey... its where I live.

lol..well here in oklahoma we don't have smog testing LOL..soooo aint really gotta worry about all that..

but it's still possible to get in trouble by the Highway Patrol for not having a cat LOL..

i got stopped by one during a cruise night and he though i was running an open header...he looked and seen i have no cat..i told him it came that way LMAO..

idk why he thought i was running an open header....when there was PLENTY of hot rods running around that really were running open headers lol... i think he just wanted to stare at my gf lmao

When I first got my headers done, I ran it with just headers and all the piping for the crossover. I went through a taco bell drive through and had to turn my truck off to order my food. it was fun driving it to the exhaust shop.
