Engine

How hard is it to put a small block engine in a 88 PU?

It's not easy! There is a lot of things you'll have to consider. A few to think about is you will have to get new radiator, tranny (I've heard you can buy some sort of adapter to mount between the engine and tranny to use the existing), new motor mounts, and of course all the wiring. I'm assuming your thinking of putting a 350 in. I know a guy who started doing this and those were just a few things he told me about. I'm not sure if he ever got it finished.

Oh and another big disadvantage is you won't have AC. thats what turned me off about it all.

What engine do u have now? I wouldn't rebuild a 3.0, just swap in a 3.4. I would rebuild a 22R or 22RE - the preformance/economy ratio is much better on them than the 3VZE.

How bad is the engine? Sure it needs a rebuild (mileage is pretty irrelevant with Toyota engines - just cuz the odometer says a certain number doesn't mean it needs a rebuild)
