Engine Swap

I have a 95 4runner and my intake manifold cracked, so water leaked into the engine. I took it apart to change the manifold and the head gaskets, but to my surprise, the whole engine is rusted through. I either have to have it completely redone or just purchase another engine. I was wondering what kind of engines could fit into my 95 4runner without doing to much modifying. Right now it is the 3VZ and I have no idea what else could fit. Thanks for the help.

Search for 3.4L (5fze) swaps.

I'd recommend a 1KZ-TE, from the KZN130, it's a 3.0 liter turbo diesel engine from Japan. There's some info about the swap on www.toyotadiesel.com

I specialize in wiring up Toyota engine swaps.

Really depends what you want. A common swap is the 3.4l, found in 4runners from1995.5 to 2002 and tacomas from 1995.5 to 2004. There is a lot of information out there on this swap, so it would probably be pretty easy.

The diesel swap sounds pretty cool, probably what I'd do. Can't say how much information is there or how hard it would be.
