anyone know about the Thrton electronic supercharger?

it come swith a manual boost control switch. i would only run it at about 2 -3 PSI. i know people sya that they dont work, but these come with EPROM chips and s/c that was built for your vehicle.

The pic that they have up there on the press section is of a turbo anyhow... turbo = not electric... lol.

There's only one electric "supercharger" that i've seen that i would ever believe to do anything... it was a twin or... tri screw(i think twin.. tri doesn't sound like it would work...) unit, with two HUGE motors on it. Pretty big sized piece... Duno where i found it at.. i lost the link now. It was crazy expensive though, and the company said you couldn't run it more than x seconds, cuz it would drain your battery so bad or something, or hurt the motors.. something dumb.

You want boost, buy real boost... or go home.. You want cheap, EFFECTIVE speed, buy nitrous.. just do yourself a favor and set it up correctly.. either way, you're spending over a grand.. near 2 even for the RIGHT setup.

stay away from any kind of electric 'turbo' or 'supercharger'. period. dont care what anyone says, they are a waste of money. only kind of performance you can gain is from mechanical. well, in terms of superchargers and turbo anyway.

If you go to the Forum section of that website and look at the "Installed" threads.....the pictures are of Vortech superchargers.....blow them up, you can read "Vortech" on the castings.

I wonder if they would like to know of this "scam" site and try to sue the owner!

 

you would do better if you just dropped some weight.

cut out all carpeting, extra seats, spare tire, and just strip it down to its bare essentials.

run on 1/3 tank at most.
over-inflate your tires


then,
port/polish your head/exhaust side.
install higher grind cams
drop a few ratios on your driveline gearing

or, like above post, if you want fast, boost. (i'm talkin 12psi or more).

but, if you really need speed, may i suggest a trailer and a track bike.

this is what i would do sounds really dumb but it might just work here...... buy it!!!!!!!!!! take it all apart dump the ele motor and install a pully ok now mount it just like a real sc!!!!! and that should just to the trick for about 200 bucks or so cause all you really need as the case and then just boost like all he!!

 

Its gotta be real! they want a whole whopping $99.99 for it!

 

Just stick a blower in your intake!

I've seen leaf blower dyno runs that indicate gains.
However, this thing looks shady as heck.
First, they indicate that they'll chip your vehicle:

No dynos, no real photos.

The domain registration is hidden - it's protected by a company that shields actual registration. Who knows who owns the company.

Their diagram shows a switch to the "turbo" - most mechanical switches are limited to about 20amps @ 12V DC.

Your average leaf blower pulls 12amps at 120V AC. That means 1440 watts.

To get that out of your battery, 1440 watts / 12v = 120 amps... That's way too big for anything short of a battery terminal switch.

That sad thing is electric supercharging has huge potential in higher voltage systems like this in hybrids. With low voltage systems the resistive losses are larger due to the high current requirements. (power = voltage X current)

A good friend of mine did his mater's thesis on this and it turns out an electric super charger can be more efficient than a belt driven one. However, not on our 12V electrical systems.

at lest the starter motors appear to have enough "oomph" to actually do something (versus a leaf blower)

Basic physics sez its a loser.

 

I remember seeing a video of a civid with a leaf blower hooked up to it. Gained power. Then they sprayed notrous into the leaf blower. More power. But you cant really install a leaf blower on your car. Just use the nitrous on your car and screw the leaf blower. Iteresting none the less.
