from the factory, the turbo gave about 35 horsepower over naturally aspirated.
the 22R(E/TE) are strong engines though and with appropriate tweaks can be made to deliver over 1000 hp.

Advertised horsepower was 145. The factory set the boost at 5.5-6 pounds, but completely stock internals survived boosts of up to 17-22 pounds, with proper fuel injection modifications. This is a testimony to the bulletproof bottom end design. Nitro / Methanol fueled dragsters, producing in excess of 1100 HP- used the original (modified) crankshafts and TOYSPORT pistons!

negative on the intercooler, looking to put a mbc on with an intercooler and bov installed and see what kinda performance i can pick up with in the limits of the stock fuel system. its got 250k on the clock, with rebuilt motor and rebuilt t25 turbo off a nissan sr20det. its a great truck

the turbo for the truck he clams yes its can make 350 hp but the motor being only stock will not maybe about 300 chp thats about it but then again 300chp in a yota 4wd would be wicked!!

My ass dude 325hp from a stock 22re .
i have 2 4runners ones 88 and the other is a 87.
the 88 has 3.0liter v6
and the other 87 has 4banger. theres no way that my 87 has more hp than my 88.
my 88 has 350hp because i put special mod's on it,with half a block.

The Toysport article pretty much sums it up...
A safe figure is 135-140 actual hp, not really much of a gain due to the limitations of the CT20. I would lean towards 135 for the very rare '84-85 examples, with about 140 for the '86-87 units, with about 173 lb-ft. of torque across the board.
Just remember to ALWAYS idle down for about 2-3 mins. if you ever get a stock turbo truck. Bearing failure is an all too common problem with the CT20, and is unavoidable at about 60-85k miles if this practice is not adhered to on a regular basis.

What would be really cool is a 22rte with intake/exhaust/cam mods throw a HD clutch at it and you're making more ponies than a 3 liter out of a more
reliable, simpler engine and probably better fuel economy

all you have to do is bump a 22rte up to 12-15 psi boost to get more power than a 3.0 and approach that a 3.4. you won't need engine mods for that, just some more fuel at the right time
