Efi swap

I know this topic has come up many times I have a few more questions that I have not been able to find answers to.

I just bought an 86 std cab 4x4 pickup that's carb'd. I wish to do an Efi swap on it because the motor is seized. I have the option of getting a kit from a wrecker that th guy is willing to put together how ever he only has an 86 4runner tank which I understand is smaller. Is the length the same so the tank bolts will line up.

Also I have that kit or a 22re hilux donor truck lined up. Will everything swap over from that truck, including the rhd wiring harness to my Lhd truck?

What would be my best option between the kit and donor truck?

Thanks!

I prefer efi over carb'd mostly because well I don't know how to tune them well. Also I live in high altitiude and I'm told that certain angles the carb will die. And the efi get an extra 25 some odd hp extra and better fuel economy

might have to extend some wires if you use the Hilux, and the ECU will be on drivers side, not much room to mount. I am sure you can make it work..

is there alot of splicing into the existing harness to begin with? theres a very helpful thread on here which is bascially s a whole wiring run down on the harness swap but im unclear as to if im just replacing the basic harness with the efi one or if i have to splice that harness into the existing one as well

you can splice.. or just replace the entire harness from tail lights to headlights

I'm not sure about the 4runner tank being smaller since they were available with different capacities but they are shaped alot different and have the filler tubes in different places.

I have never tried to mount one into a truck but I'm sure some fab work will be involved.

When I did my swap I just found a truck being parted out and bought all the wiring and swapped it into my truck. Its really easy to do.

I also got more details on that other donor truck. its an 86 LHD 2wd pickup. if i was to have a donor truck thats the same year but 2wd will everything swap over to my 4wd? especially as far as the dash and engine harness' are concerned.
