hey guys hows it going...

I know there are other threads on topics like this, and I've used them to try and find the problem to no avail
this could end up being one of those long drawn out threads, but lets hope not..

Well we were truckin along when my truck just died.
Get out, to notice my 15A efi fuse was blown.
Change it, and it starts for 1 sec blows the efi fuse and dies.

So we began looking for shorts, mainly around the 02 sensor and under the fuse block, couldnt find anything, We changed out my efi relay and the COR cause I had extras of both of those.
Didnt fix it.

So, MY question is, Can a short in the wiring Inside The fuel tank of that wiring cause a problem like this..?

Electrical demons suck.

check the drivers side frame rail under the hood area
i had a wire holder fall apart ands the wire rubbed on the frame until it rubbed through the casing and kept shortin fuses on me

Unplug your Air Flow meter while the key is in the "On" position and plug a new fuse in there and see if it blows...

If yes, check the contacts inside the black cover on the AFM. Mine where bent over thus causing the short....just straightened them out and was on my way...

If no, i have no other ideas.

I actually unplugged the afm and tried to start it, As per other threads on similar issues.
That being said with the afm unplugged, and IF that was the problem, It would have started.
But thanks anyways...where the heck is kirk, or roger...or someone

Gonna check the main efi relay in the drivers kick.

Wish I was at home though

I would also check the two newest wireing things you have done. Your fuel tank wireing and your aux light wireing.

Fudge on gheyness, dont wanna drop the stupid gastank again...At least we finally got our floor jack from the moving company..so that'll help

It's deff a possibility.
But the wiring for the lights looked ok.

wow steve my s-10 did this when ever i made a right hand turn cause the fool pump wire was stuck between the frame and body thus blowing the fuse

id say check over the fool pump wires and trace them as far as you can take the ecu offf the body still pluged in and see if it works shack it and check that out check over the wire harness under the intake and make sure nothing broke or shorted there i say just spend a day looking and scraching your head you'll find it i believe in you

Holy crap! My brothers 94 Toyota pickup 22re 5spd 260k miles does the EXACT same thing. Sometimes after 3 fuses later it runs fine for a couple months and sometimes it will just randomly blow. Won't blow on gravel roads but sometimes it blows when he lugs his engine. He replaced the O2 sensor and that didn't help. He has a short somewhere...like you...and we can't seem to find it unless its shorted out for good. Electrical gremlins are the hardest to find IMHO

91 truck, so you should have the 4 wire O2 sensor(s)...
so check that the wiring above the transmission isn't shorting out to something. It's been known to happen.

Also...heard this can be caused by O2 sensor plus exhaust. lol.

not sure... but if you have access to a telco tone set, you can trace down faults quite easily.

Isn't that like a blockout? (I think thats what its called) they hook it up to connectors and it checks resistance and continuity...
