ECM + Wiring Harness Question

Hey folks.

Just wanted some general opinions or advise on my intentions.
I recently acquired a 1990 4runner. 4wd 5spd manual.
22re

The truck did not come with the wiring harness installed. (Previous owner stole some parts of the truck, the engine wiring harness being one of them.

I managed to source an engine wiring harness from a 1991 4runner. 4wd, 5spd manual, 22re.

My question is, do i have a good chance these pinouts match up with my stock ecm?
i have cross referenced ecm’s for a 1990 & 1991
They are in fact different numbers which lead me to believe the pinouts or ecu outputs would be in the wrong locations when combing the two!?

1990 ecu: 89661-35150
1991 ecu: 89661-35630

i have not received the harness yet. I made an assumption it would work and went ahead with the sale as they seem to be the closest match i could find.

If anyone has any insight on this or could recommend some ways to ensure success that would be great.
Also, if need be, would sourcing the 91’ ecm that matches my harness be the best route to go if these pinouts do not match up?

Thanks.

To my knowledge, Toyota really wouldn't be the type to change pinouts on something like an ECM. Most people seem to use different ones from different years pretty interchangeably here on the forums. I've never been there myself though.

If I had to guess the plug type may be different or there was an update to the ECM during the lifetime of the second gen runners related to internal components and tuning? At the worst I could imagine a different plug type being used.

Having worked on 80's pickups and my 89 runner v6, they changed plugs significantly in the 80's but I would hope that begins and ends with sensors for harnesses, not the ECM side.
