There are ring an pinion gear sets on eBay cheaper than anyware else i've looked on the net. Has anyone every bought them, are they cheap junk? some don't have brands listed and some do but I don't even know what a good brand of ring and pinion gears are.

Suck up the extra 50 bucks and get some name brand parts. Your R&P aside from your engine is IMO the most important moving part on your truck. Gears take way too much time and money to set up to go cheap on. They take some amazing abuse during wheeling. I'd rather have the piece of mind my junk wasn't going to fall apart on the trail.
Another thing to keep in mind is that very few shops will set up a third member with gears that you bought somewhere else. I ran into this issue with my build. No one wanted to set them up because I bought them online.
This is the only place I'd buy gears online http://www.marlincrawler.com/htm/diff/differentials.htm

Anybody have experience with the seller of this kit? He has good feedback, but since a brand isn't listed I'm a bit hesitant.
nothing better than actually being able to talk and ask questions before you buy it.

I just bought gears for East Coast Gear Supply.
Chase has been great to work with, and his prices are awesome!

I've noticed that both PORC and JT Differentials both sell their stuff on eBay. I've purchased both front and rear R&P's (with master install kits) from JT - but I've always called them and spoke to a representative on the phone - I have nothing but praise for JT Diffs. I did buy a set of Hella 500's from PORC (Performance Off Road Center) via eBay this past christmas - again, I got nothing but good service from them... My 2 cents...

Thanks for all the replies, I talked to the seller and got this reply:
UKMyers thanks for the advice:
I'll be setting up the third members myself (I've done Chevys and Fords so hopefully I won't have a problem).
jmazoso, thanks for the link to ECGS. I ended up buying from them. With a promotion code from Pirate my final price (including a solid spacer) wasn't much more than the ebay kit.
The front gear and install are Yukon, the rear gear is USA Standard, and the rear install is a "white box" kit.

If you can do it yourself your golden. I bought my stuff from PORC but I called them directly I didn't deal with Ebay. I ended up mailing my third to a shop that was 200 miles away to get it set up because nobody locally would do it. That's the last time I make that mistake.

X2, I got my V6 Yukon Gear gearsets, master install kits, and SOLID spacers from PORC. I had good service from them, but I took my stuff to "Crash" to get them installed.

Ive been pretty lucky with my auto ebay purchases. One thing I looked at almost obsesively was the seller feedback on similar items and especially at the negetive feedback.
Too bad ebay "sold out" and recently took away the ability to leave and look at negetive feedback, this in my opinion is terrible and ive heard of people try to boycott ebay until they reinstate it.
Without it you cant really see if the negetive feedback(if any) was due to shipping or the actual part itself not being up to snuff.
Anyway definalty look at the feedback and try to see if the seller is a middle man(selling for another company) as some of the companies they sell for could be chiense(my advice to steer clear of)

Cheap e-bay parts are great for a lot of things - but not R&P. Buy a set of yukon gears and have them set up right and you'll only have to do it once. If you buy a crap set of gears, you will likely have to replace them down the road.

We set up all of our thirds with Precision Gears too....and Yukon set up kits. The make of the gears isnt half as important as the set up procedures when it comes down to longevity

Unless it happens to be a Richmond gearset... it does matter, because a good installer can only do so much when the pattern is inconsistent.
But yeah, a poor install and quality gears will break.
