This is for all the people like me who are too lazy to dick with wiring diagrams, special relays, and all that . Its only gonna be good if you already have the tailgate torn apart (fussy water/dust shields etc) to the point you can access the motor.

You want your cursed tailgate window to open without having to beat on and scream at your truck?

Find the plug that connects to the sensor on the driver's side lock mechanism. Unplug it. On the plug of the wire bundle that goes back to the harness, jump the two outer wires together. Voila!

You still have to use the key, but you never have to worry about that sensor again.


note: i just did this 10 mins ago, its possible something could go awry

 

i did that with mine. it was the switch that lets the truck kno that the tailgate was up and i also got rid of the switch thats for the top safety switch. never had a problem since. granted if you let someone borow your truck and they dont know any better and your tops off, you could loose your window. loL
