isr and drill your airbox, I noticed a slightly faster throtle response and nice sound. I physics is there, more air flow with a system that can adjust f/a should realize power gains and therfore milage increase (slight) but I agree eveything counts, I wonder if the egr removal/isr/drillairbox/headers/full flow cat/high flow muffler combined would help to a noticable level? I guess I should do tham all at once LOL
I did a cold air/jet chip/dual exaust on my 92 maxima and went from 550km/tank to nearly 700. The first trip I thought my gauge was broken and kept telling my wife" we might run out of gas because the guage says we have a quater tank left but we should be empty" It was amazing in that car what those three combined mods did.

I pieced together my own kit for about $60 instead of paying the outrageous price they usually are. And really with the way the tube runs, it's not a very "cold air" intake. The air heated from the radiator blows right onto it and heats the tube up bad. Now if you did the battery-intake swap, you might benefit a good bit.

Of coarse, this is on the 22re. I see by your sig you have the 3.0 in the Runner, I'd say just do the ISR mod and get a K&N.
When I had my 88 4runner I switched the air intake and the battery so there was basically a filter, sensor, and a few inches of rubber . I have no clue why they set it up the way they did other than weight distribution. A long metal pipe running between the radiator and the block is only going to warm the air. Other option is to insulate the intake the entire way.

Thats not really the point. We know that it probably isn't going to do much...if anything at all. I just like the sound of the intake...

Why in the world would someone want something that "swirls" the air (as do some of the throttle body spacers) when engineers spend hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars yearly trying to design intakes that keep the air as turbulent free as possible ?

Enough people have tried them (with no good results) on several forums that I visit, for several types of vehicles.

By what magic do you think that they work, bearing in mind that I'm an engineer

Well when I bought a wand and a wizard hat downtown the said the thing would work, Stipid reality always getting in the way. Guess I'd better find my receipt.

Ok, so here's a kit on eBay that I dug up if anyone's interested. Not too bad of a price and it's pretty similar to the setup I put together, just have a different elbow and filter really.

Yeah, the whole idea behind this really was to adapt it to a 3 inch intake tube to make the future custom snorkel a little easier to construct later on

The "bling factor" was just a plus, lol.

Cold Air intakes are really sweet, but I think the next generation DEI intake is your ticket.

Infinite mileage, and never have to worry about emissions again.

No, A corvette guy thought it up. And swore up and down that it would work. Most of the time flaming threads on forums are a waste of time....That one was so funny I had to re read it several times.

lol, that would be awsome though, lol. no air filter to worry about; NO HYDROLOCKING!... unless you have an exhaust leak, lmao... it's like a direct turbo too!

if only it were the land of lolly-pops and candy mushrooms... then maybe that idea would work...

I noticed a difference just by putting in a K&N air filter in my 1994 pick up
