I just bought a 93 3.0 V6 4Runner and I trust it. It needs a little TLC but It runs great, doesn't make any strange noises and still has plenty of pull getting on the highway. Haven't had it offroad yet 'cause it needs new tires. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase. Gas mileage could be a little better but I am coming from a Focus hatchback.

I bought mine with 200k on it.
I drove it from TX to MI about 2 months later. No problems..
Stay on top of the issues, as she'll last forever.

Longer??? Not likely, there are few other motors on the planet that can rival the R series motors in longevity (and the ones that can are mostly Toyota motors as well).

Can you trust it??? I know I have a bad rod bearing, an Exhaust leak and the timing chain cover is leaking oil... I've still driven 400 miles out to Idaho and back loaded to the gills with rafting gear and usualy have to run in 3rd to keep 45-50 up the long grades. The thing has not even so much as stuttered or given me 1 problem to speak of. Oh and it has 240k on it. I'm giong to rebuild the motor and/or just get a new short-block, and this is only because the previous owner didn't take care of the rig the way I would have.

Can you trust it? At 150k you haven't even broken the thing in.

Cheers and No Worries

Dave

If you don't have a problem that you know of, then I'd say it'll make it no questions asked... Like I said, I have one with a few known issues and it drove me out to N.Idaho and back to Portland with no issue. It wasn't fast, but hey who cares.
