Do new heads have the valves adjusted

I may be replacing my heads on a 91 4runner 3.0. Are the valves already adjusted?

I don't know about buying new heads, but the machine shop can reset valve clearances when they rebuild our 3.0 heads. My machinist told me that he just butt-ground the ends of the valve stems to set clearances. I'm still gonna check them after I install the heads, and after a few thousand miles of driving. If you're good with a feeler guage and micrometer, you can reshim them yourself.

Probably ought to check the clearances anyway before you crank up the motor. I don't think you want to valves to be overtight.
