Thanks for sharing the video

... its just in time ... i have been debating on replacing my rotors n brakepads on my pickup ... just couldn't decide if I should do it myself or leave it to the mechanic ... The video is pretty detailed and i think im ready to jump in soon once I decide on the parts and tools required ... Im leaning towards Hawk breakpads n brembo rotors .. which brand parts did you go for?

Initially I went for centric semi-metallic pads, but the performance was terrible. I switched back to OEM compound and I couldn't be happier. The rotors are fantastic (the ones you see in the video). They are r1concepts premium slotted rotors. With the OEM pads you're going to want to apply some grease between the shims.

That was great. Thanks for taking the time to make it. That will surely help a lot of newbs~

I bought the Hawk HD pads & while a little noisy/dusty, they ROCK for stopping! I also bought dimpled/slotted rotors from RotorPros.com. They treat me right a few years ago on Ford Expedition rotos & I went back to them for my new ones. I've been through only one set of Toyota rotors in the past 160,000 miles...thought I'd give these a try this time around

my guess it's easier to access the caliper bolts by turning the rotor? didn't watch the whole thing though. good job nonetheless.

I think that was so he didn't have to disconnect the brake line to remove the caliper.

I generally remove the brake line, but that is always a pain because I need to find someone to push the pedal so I can bleed my brakes.

I did mine without removing the brake line nor the steering arm.

I gotta watch the whole thing, I wanna see if he lubed the spindle bushing while he was in there. lol.

unclipped the line from the upper control arm and slid the caliper aside, held it in place with a bungie.

hmm. You must have a different setup than mine. On my '94 PU, the line is secured 360 degrees by a bracket. The bracket is held to the steering knuckle by a steering knuckle bolt.

The only way I can swing the caliper out of the way is to remove the hard line from the caliper, or remove the bracket bolt that goes into the steering knuckle.
