do you really need the dashpot?

my 1990 22re truck has 400 thousand miles no joke..

i dont want to pay 80 bucks for a new one..

if i dont have one is it going to hurt the engine?

will it still pass smog if i dont have it on?

let me know

thanks

I'd say try and find one in a junk yard if you could

all it really does is keep the engine from bogging down or dieing when the throttle is let off of abruptly

I ran without mine for about a year, but yes - it does help keep the engine from stalling when the throttle is released quickly. I finally replaced it only because I got one from an "auto recycler" hehe. I think there are some on ebay if you haven't looked there.
