Dashboard Vents

The dashboard vents in my 90 pickup are full of junk from parking under pine trees. Is there a way to remove the vent "grilles" that tilt up and down from the dashboard without removing the dashboard or damaging the vents? I'm hesitant to try and just yank them out because I don't want to damage them.

if the vents have pine needles them - I hate to see whats in the heater core or the AC evap core.....

There are "clips" on both the top and the bottom of the vents (at least on the 85-88 era ones)
IN theory you can pop them with a small screw driver inserted under the vent
I've done it, but it often leaves a permanent "dent" in the padding of the dash. You'll be looking that dent for years and years.....

That's what I figured. Looks like the shop vac and a pick for now. I have a leak behind the dashboard, one of these days I'll pull it. Gotta be one of the truck repairs I least want to do.

I see dirty blower motors and evaps due to debris getting in from the cowl. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...trucks-286766/ I would pull the glove box and try and get the blower assembly out and clean it as well. This is for the previous generation but most of the steps will be similar.

That looks like fun. It's salmon fishing season, then it's winter, so that job will have to wait until next year...
