dash swap/hybrid dash

Has anybody tried swapping a 3rd gen 4runner/tacoma dash into mid to late 80's truck? Or maybe some type of hybrid or custom dash to mount cluster from 3rd gen 4runner/tacoma. They are very close in width the mini truck is actually a little wider. Any help, info or pics would be great.

I think slacker is using a 98 cluster only and putting it in a 1983 trekker. so its close but no cigar.

Thanks RMA I like the look of yours. Yeah I would like to do the whole dash but a hybrid like yours might be just what I should do. I'll check pirate out. NICE build on yours.

Were you talking about something a little more settle as far as a dash change. I have a 1990 v6 4runner 2door in the new rounded body style and installed the more modern 96+ cluster set. I installed the brushed aluminum plate on my console and ordered an aftermarket cluster that is white during the day and can be either blue or green at night.

Been looking can't find it.
It sure would be sweet to pull off that swap cleanly.

Ya mine is the stock hood and dash I only messed with the faces. That was a interesting task to open up the odometer area, I had to do it twice in order to get the faces set correctly for fuel, oil and my RPM's. I think I will do it once more though and change the white back lighting that illuminates the odometer and orange arms to a red LED so it matches my blue and red colors on my head unit.

I saw the other pics of the modified hood cluster and it will look pretty nice as long as you can either match the dash colors or use an all black hood.
