Cylinder Problems

So one of my cylinders got destroyed and the owner before me took it in to a shop by my house to get it replaced. They replaced it with silicon so it would naturally mold so now it makes a clicking sound that you're supposed to hear all the time, plus the Check Engine light always is on because of it. I was wondering if silicon is the only way to go when replacing cylinders or can i just buy a brand new cylinder and put it in like it originally was and stop the clicking

what cylinder are you talking about? half of it sounds like youre talking about your engine cylinders but i dont think you can replace a cylinder without replacing the whole block...
