Cv cant get it back in
#1
Alright, so im doing my cv joints on my 87, and i cant get the buggger back in, i dont have enough clearance from it to clear the bolts on the diff flange. Any one got any ideas,
right now i unbolted the shock from lower a arm and have the rear oppisite tire jacked up, but not sure how far higher i should do and also have a jack on the tire im working on...

just unbolt the four studs through the control arm, then you should be able to pry down even farther on the lower arm. once the ball joint clears the upper arm, you can tilt the hub out away from the frame giving you more clearance for the axle/joint.

Another trick is to use a c-clamp/sledge etc.... and remove the bolts on the diff and replace them with a bolt. That way you can remove them when it comes time to replace a cv, making it easier. I actually just removed them and ground down the splines on it so that it was just a bolt.
