Cutting Donuts with 35s

Okay. I cheated. It snowed 4-6 inches and the roads were solid ice. So I went to my nearest culdesac that sees very little or no traffic and played a little.

That's funny I did the same thing on the farm yesterday we got a foot of the white stuff but no real luck in 4 wheel drive maybe because of the AUSSIE in the front but to turn 35's was fun anyway.

I had to keep it in first cause I didn't have my front sway bar on. Need to put it back on and pull some in second gear.

Abe I probably could have done it in 4 wheel drive but I drove about 25 miles on the ice roads over the course of the day and didn't once lock the hubs. I was having so much fun cutting donuts in 2 wheel drive the thought didn't cross my mind to try it in 4. I've done them in 4 before in muddy fields, and the ice was twice as slick, so now I'm mad I didn't try it.

Yeah we got the same storm. Did you take yours on icy roads any? My lockright in the rear can make things really fun or really scary depending on how fast you're going when you start spinning through a turn. It's always fun in a straight line. I didn't use 4 on the roads. Didn't really need it and I didn't wanna put any miles on my CVs with my front lockright.

I want to drive on an iced over parking lot once before I die, just so I can pull some second-gear 4wd doughnuts; that would be AWESOME!!!

You're gonna have to translate the west coast lingo for me.

Yeah superbleeder it's pretty fun. That was my first time ever driving in ice or snow. It's just like shallow slick mud but more dangerous and slicker. But snow/ice driving makes your truck nasty. Dirty ice hanging everywhere sucks. And so does road salt. As soon as the water hose isn't frozen she's getting a bath.

Ouch. I didn't think they were that bad for stock gears, 35s, and no sway bar. I may have to take a video of some donuts with my Ford to meet your approval.

well I at least thought you were re-geared for 35's...

1) not bad for 35's

2) wtf is wrong with you, running stock gears on 35's

You really need to re-gear as that was pretty much driving in circles. These were better:

I have two, but the one i was referring to is my 92 F150 Regular cab Flareside. EFI 302, headers, dual exhaust, E4OD, not too modified but it will cut donuts like nobody's business in 2nd with 33 BFG MTs.

My other is a 2000 Excursion Limited. 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel, E4OD, All stock except the 2 5/16" ball and pintle combination hitch, I use this to tow the 4Runner to mud bogs.

Both are 4 wheel drive of course.

I'm a 17 year old that's not allowed to work during the school year. I work full time in the summer for $10 an hour. I've paid for all modifications to two trucks. Get off my nuts. Haven't saved up all the money for gears yet. They're next on the list.

My 4Runner is not my daily driver. It's my mud truck. Lockers and tires and ground clearance are more important to me than more power, so they came first. I have low range to tie me over until I can afford gears. I'll probably be able to hit holes faster and power through them better with gears, but I run 34x9.50 TSLs on light little 15x7 aluminum wheels in the mud bogs, and they weigh hardly anything, and I can turn them over almost as well as 31s. So I'm just fine with 4.10s til I have all the money.
