I agree. He did search and found a thread that was relevant to his problem. If he made a new thread he wouldve been told to search....

Just chill yo

the reason the 4th cylinder gets cross threaded is most people do not notice that the spark plug is pointing towards the fire wall or the brake MC not straight out.

if you look closely the number one plug points toward the front of the truck slightly, two and three point toward each other and 4 points toward the back of the truck
if you try to thread the #4 in with a long extension the extension will set against the fire wall and not let the plug go in at the angle like it is supposed to.

we found a little black thing that i think is called a thread chaser..all the shavings it created were brought OUT by the little black thing..lol

it has 4 groves in the side of it to grab the loose material and brought it out...of course mine got cross-threaded and then we did that..and a few months later i spun my #2 rod bearing..lol and then we had to take the head off anyway..

it wasnt hurting anything being in there funny...it still ran like a champ..we just didnt like it being like that..lol

Bringing an old thread back. Just got back to replacing my spark plugs and turns out my #2 cylinder is cross threaded. What is the best way to go about re-threading it?

I have a 3.0 V6

It depends how bad it is. If its not bad you can get away (most times) with carefully chasing the threads.

If its bad then it must be drilled and heli-coiled. If the latter is needed use Jason (green93)'s method.

I got away with chasing the threads.

Just be thankfull its not the number 5 or 6 cyl..

Reviving an old thread once again but I found it helpful so I thought I'd add to it.

If you reference the Denso spark plug specs chart in the link below you find out the thread for the W16EXR-U plug for the 22re is a 14 x 20.6

http://www.globaldenso.com/en/produc...ket/plug/spec/

Now I just need to find an appropriate thread chaser to try and fix my #4...

Helicoil M14 X 1.25 Sav-A-Thread Kit - 5334-14. This kit works just fine have done several of these never had a problem. Load the tap up with grease and only go a turn or so at a time take it out and clean it, then use a good vacuum.

Exactly,
Use a small piece of snugly fitting hose over the head of the spark plug and turn the spark plug into the cylinder by twisting the hose and letting the threads in the spark plug find their way. There's no way of providing enough torque to start the spark plug crooked by doing it this way.

It's actually best to use the tubing to remove the plug from the last few threads too. It sounds stupid but some people actually manage to mess up the last few threads when they try to remove the spark plugs using the socket, extension, and ratchet.

Bringing threads that are messed up is a tricky situation. I'd watch some YouTube vids if it's your first time and be very careful and go slow
